As if the Philadelphia Eagles need any more injuries, two key members of their secondary, safety Brian Dawkins and cornerback Lito Sheppard will not play today against the Detroit Lions. Dawkins’ neck was injured in last week’s loss to the Washington Redskins. Sheppard missed his second consecutive game, injuring his knee in the Eagle’s opening-day loss to the Green Bay Packers. Replacing Dawkins will be Quintin Mikell and Sheppard’s replacement will be William James. The Eagles secondary faces today a Lions passing attack which is averaging 321 yards per game through 2 games.
