McNabb leaves the field after the loss

The Eagles were all but eliminated from the playoffs with a 16-13 loss to the New York Giants Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field.  The offense struggled in Donovan McNabb’s first game back after missing two starts due to injuries.  Philadelphia looked sharp on its opening drive, marching 68 yards for a score, but after that the team could only muster up two David Akers field goals.  The Eagles’ defense forced a few turnovers to keep the game close, but allowed Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress to grab seven receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown.  The Eagles actually had a chance to tie the game at the end and force overtime, but Akers’ 57-year-old field goal attempt hit the right upright with just a second remaining.  It doesn’t get easier for the 5-and-8 Birds, who travel to Dallas next week.
