CB Sheppard Shows Up at Minicamp

Despite it being widely speculated that he would not show, cornerback Lito Sheppard was at Eagles mandatory minicamp on Friday night. The two-time Pro Bowler has been on the trading block, as the Eagles went out and got All-Pro corner Asante Samuel on the first day of free agency, and Sheppard has been balking about wanting a new deal.
“We all know the situation at hand,” Sheppard said Friday. “It still stands unresolved, but I’m here. I’m here to practice and that’s what I’m focused on right now. That’s pretty much it.” Right now Sheppard is signed through 2011, and Andy Reid did say that he can see the team restructuring Sheppard’s deal to keep him with the team. “I think it can get resolved,” Sheppard said. “That’s one of the reasons why I’m here working toward that.”

I think its crazy that so many in the media were calling for the Lito trade. I think the NFL is pass first, run second league now and your nickel cornerback is as important as your starters. As far as Lito wanting more money, heres a suggestion Lito, shut up and play at a prowbowl level for a full year and then sniffle about pay. You signed it, and played 14 games 0ut of the last 32. I wish I could go to work 50% of the time and ask for my salary to be increased by 50%, wouldn’t that be nice.
