Westbrook and Buckhalter Miss Practice

Eagles running backs Brian Westbrook and Correll Buckhalter missed practice Thursday, making their availability for this weekend’s game against the New York Giants uncertain.

Westbrook, who has a team-leading eight touchdowns this season, is nursing knee and ankle injuries. The All-Pro practiced Wednesday but did not participate in Thursday’s workout.

Westbrook played through pain last week against Arizona and delivered with his best game of the season, rushing for 110 yards on 22 carries and scoring four TDs – which tied a franchise record – in a 48-20 win on Thanksgiving.

Buckhalter also missed practice with a knee injury. If neither can play, Lorenzo Booker likely will be called upon to start.

The Eagles also announced Thursday that rookie guard Max Jean-Gilles underwent surgery to repair a broken fibula in his right leg. Jean-Gilles was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.
