Eagles to Look at Boldin, Ocho Cinco or Gonzalez This Offseason?

The Eagles are going to take a long look at a number of pass catchers as free agency gets started, and today’s Norristown Times Herald says that the team will take a look at either Anquan Boldin, Ochco Cinco or Tony Gonzalez. Here is the report:

Then again, flip that and you have Donovan McNabb, cap room and two first-rounders, one of which the Eagles might be able to trade for a disgruntled star receiver like Anquan Boldin, Ocho Cinco or Tony Gonzalez. The Eagles have the maneuverability to get really aggressive in the off-season as opposed to the owner’s pedal-to-the-metal approach of last season that relied on youth, luck and a hot streak to reach the postseason. Banner and Reid got an up close and personal look at the prospective free agents during the Pro Bowl in Honolulu. From offensive tackle Jordan Gross and defensive end Julius Peppers of the Carolina Panthers to defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth of the Tennessee Titans, there are impact players the Eagles have the cap room to sign.

I am a long time eagles fan and a season ticket hold in section 235. I have never seen the Eagles make the moves that you are asking for since Andy Reid has been in charge. Yes, the did go out and get Jevon Kearse in Free Agency but TO was achieved due to a mistake by his agent. If that mistake wasn’t made TO would have never been an Eagle. For all those people out their asking (& never getting) for a top notch WR, forget it. The Eagles have put together a nice group of 2’s, 3’s, & 4’s in there WR core, consisting of Curtis, Jackson Basket, & Avant. I would love this Receiving core if I wasn’t force fed LJ SMITH for $5 Million, Plus. Tony Gonzalez, even over 34 years old, is better then anyone the eagles have had since Keith Jackson. Let’s see what a Tight End does for this WC Offense and McNabb. If that deal is made it will be the only one. Jordan Gross, OT, should be the pick up through F/A. Tre & Runyon are great players but rebuilding that line is one thing that they must do. Protection and Run blocking must get better for this team to succeed. Through the draft used the (2) first round pick and another OT and a Big Running back to complement Westbrook. In the 2nd/3rd/4th Round get Dawkins replacement (to be ready for 2010/2011) and a big Tight End to groom to take over for Tony Gonzalez (we are going to need to give up one of the first 5 picks to get him away from KC). The Running back taken can even be a Full Back. We cannot go into 2009 with Klecko. He needs to be at least 5,10 – 240lbs. A guy that size can get you 1-2 yards at a clip.
Feb. 27th is closer than you think. Let’s go birds.
