Eagles May Look to Take an OT in the Upcoming Draft

The Philadelphia Daily News reports that the Eagles could be lining up to take an offensive tackle with their pick in the upcoming draft. Here is the tidbit in today’s paper:

If the Eagles are seriously interested in trading up into the top 10, the question is who might be up there that they would want. The likely answer is one of the draft’s top three offensive tackles – Eugene Monroe of Virginia, Jason Smith of Baylor and Andre Smith of Alabama. But Monroe and Smith are expected to be among the first three or four players taken. That leaves Smith, who is expected to go anywhere from six to 10. Smith’s draft stock was thought to have slipped when he went AWOL from the league scouting combine in February. But time heals all, or at least most, wounds. “It really wasn’t that big a deal,” Heckert insisted. “The kid’s a good kid. There are no [character] questions.”
