Shawn Andrews Back at Camp, Moved From Guard to Right Tackle

Eagles Practice Shawn Andrews Football
The Eagles seem to have a new look on their offensive line, as Shawn Andrews spent Thursday lining up not at guard, but at tackle. “I think it will be fun,” Andrews said. “I think it will rejuvenate my career. I think I will be a better tackle.”

Andrews missed a lot of the 2008 Eagles training camp due to depression, and then hurt his back in week two, and it ended his season and seemed to put a lot of questions about his future in the mind of Eagles fans and possibly those that make the tough decisions upstairs.

Now though, Andrews gets a fresh start at right tackle, and coach Andy Reid seems to think that he’ll make the transition with no problems. “Shawn has been an all-pro guard, so he should look good at tackle,” Reid said. “I think he’s enjoying it. He’s in phenomenal shape right now. I think his back is fine. He’s been up here working out and doing everything that the other guys have done and it hasn’t bothered him.”

If he plays tackle as well as he’s played guard, the Eagles could have the makings of a strong O-line on their hands in 2009.
