McCoy Will Need Work on Blocking to make Eagles’ Rotation

ProFootballWeekly reports that LeSean McCoy will need to work on blocking to make the rotation in 2009:

The upcoming OTAs and passing camps place a high value on working on the passing game, and believe it or not, these sessions might mean as much or more to second-round RB LeSean McCoy as they do to first-round WR Jeremy Maclin. Sure, Maclin needs refinement on his route running, but he appeared to look good with his intermediate footwork in the first few practices.

But McCoy’s biggest contribution could come as the all-important backup to injury-prone Brian Westbrook, and that means McCoy must improve what appears to be his biggest weakness as this point: pass blocking. “He’ll need work on that,” head coach Andy Reid said. “He’ll work on that when he gets in [to minicamp]. At Pitt, when he blocked, they asked him to cut-block more than we cut-block; that’s part of their scheme. We’ll ask him to stand up [to block]. We probably only have 12 good shots of that on [McCoy’s college] film to evaluate.”
