First-Round Pick Maclin Still Without a Deal

A couple teams over the weekend (Browns, Steelers) were able to get their first round picks inked over the weekend. As Pro Football Talk.com reports, the Eagles still don’t have a deal in place for first-round pick WR Jeremy Maclin:

Maclin, who was drafted 19th overall, remains unsigned. However, Eagles coach Andy Reid indicated that progress has been made in negotiations.

“Nothing has been agreed on yet, he hasn’t signed yet,” Reid told reporters in comments distributed by the Eagles. “We’ll see how things go through the day. I think we’re close in a couple areas, we need to get closer in a couple other areas.”

It’s unclear what specific contract items would need to be resolved before Maclin’s deal could be completed, but Reid is holding out hope that something will be done soon.
