S Quintin Mikell, quoted on PhillyBurbs.com after learning of the passing of former defensive coordinator Jim Johnson Tuesday:
“He was the best that ever did it. Just look at all the things he’s been able to do with so little. He didn’t always need the very best guys out there. He worked with whatever he had, and he always had top defenses. I feel like he was really a genius.” Mikell continued: “He did things to this day I don’t even understand. It was funny. We would do things at practice, and we’d be like, ‘Why are we doing this? This makes no sense at all.’ All of a sudden, you get into the game, and you do what he says, the way he told you to do it, and it unfolds perfectly. The guy just knew football. He loved football, and he was really good at it. On top of that, he was a great person.”
