Michael Vick: Right Place, Right Time

Michael Vick has contributed three touchdowns for the Eagles in the past two weeks and it couldn’t be coming at a better time. He’s not breaking a big play every time he touches the ball but he has consistently been accomplishing what the Eagles have been asking from him (with a few big plays thrown in of course).

With the way the injury bug has affected this team, players have been asked weekly to come in and step up. This has happened to many of the Eagles skill players on offense and Vick has helped to carry the burden. We have seen him beat teams with both his arm and legs lately and it seems as though the Eagles have finally discovered how to play call for him to make plays. You’ve been seeing a lot of plays you’ve never seen before with Vick in the game so you know they hadn’t given up trying to develop plays for him. It just seems that now these plays are actually starting to be effective.

I think during the first half of the season when you saw him enter the game in the Wildcat, he was mainly giving the ball away. He mainly served as a distraction and rarely kept the ball to make a play himself. Now when he enters the game you know there’s a pretty strong chance he’s going to run the ball, and if he doesn’t he very well may sit back and let the ball fly.

His effectiveness lately has been key for the Eagles as many times he’ll enter on a third down or in the red zone and keeps drives alive or scores touchdowns. With Vick, I was down when they signed him, then got excited about it, then got down when he wasn’t doing much, and now I’m up again. I hope he keeps contributing and helps fuel this team deep into the playoffs.
