After we heard so many promising words earlier in the week, it looks like there has been a turn for the worse. It appeared that Eagles running back Brian Westbrook may make a return this week, but it seems like those odds are diminishing. Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily news, is saying he believes there is “little chance” that we will see a return of Westbrook on Sunday. Apparently, he has not been hitting the marks he needs to on the doctors tests so the Eagles are holding him back. I like that the Eagles are being very cautious about his return and not forcing anything but it makes you question the extent of the injury.
Will we see Westbrook return again this season? Will we see him return again ever? Will it be in an Eagles jersey? There are a lot of questions surrounding the issue and none of which that can be answered today. These are all questions that will only be answered in time.
However, the Eagles really haven’t missed Westbrook. I’m not saying I wouldn’t like to have him in the lineup but I am saying that I’ve been happy with the performance of LeSean McCoy, Leonard Weaver, and Michael Vick in the run game. I think that’s the kind of thing that shows a team has character, the fact that you can keep winning when a key player goes down. You don’t want to see Westbrook force himself back into the lineup too early and he really has no reason to. His career is at stake here and he needs to make the right decisions.
Do you think Brian Westbrook will play again for the Eagles this season?
