Eagles Add a Running Back

The Philadelphia Eagles official website is reporting that the Eagles added running back Martell Mallett to the team today. Mallett was the 2009 Rookie of the Year in the CFL where he played for the BC Lions. In his rookie season, Mallett recorded 214 carries for 1,280 yards and scored six touchdowns.

Mallett played his college ball at Arkansas-Pine Bluff recording 2,896 yards during his career. This by no means is a big name signing but it does make us think about the status of Brian Westbrook. The Eagles aren’t saying much about the situation but they have been actively working out running backs in the past week.

Nothing is set in stone but it looks like more and more signs are pointing towards a departure of Brian Westbrook.

thats what i like to see. this guy may or may not be ‘the answer’ but at least this team is already looking forward to improvement and beginning to try to address their needs. i’d like to see them move quickly make more of these necessary moves once FA starts.
