How Do the Players Feel About McNabb Trade?

Over the past few days we’ve heard plenty of reaction from fans, media, and others about the Donovan McNabb trade. However, what he don’t really know is what those remaining with the team are thinking. We’ve heard DeSean Jackson make some remarks on the situation, but it’s hard to tell how he truly feels.

One quote that makes you think Jackson wanted this is when he said, “I see us as the young guns, coming in and taking advantage of a lot of great opportunities in Philadelphia. We’re here for the long haul.” I think that DeSean realizes that if Kolb can come in and find the success that McNabb had with him, they can be very good for a long time.

I can understand this feeling and the fact that all the young guys knew that McNabb wouldn’t be around forever. It seems everyone knew his departure was inevitable and didn’t feel like dragging their feet about it. Everyone is ready to move into the “future” and are hoping that a lot of success follows it.

We can only hope that players don’t have the “we’re screwed” feeling now that McNabb is gone. Fans can think that all they want, but if the players start thinking that then there’s a real problem. I hope that the players are very confident in Kolb’s abilities and are ready to follow his lead. This is going to be a new experience for everyone, but one I think that can work out very well if everyone is on board.
