With the Eagles in OTAs now, there’s plenty of headlines. Not all of them are jaw dropping, but it’s nice to hear some impressions about some of the newest Eagles. Here are some of the things happening at the Nova Care this week:
One of the more interesting/bizarre stories this week involved Mike Patterson. Some how, Patterson’s truck caught on fire in the parking lot at the Nova Care complex this week. Although he has been quiet for a long time now, Patterson has mainly made headlines for the wrong reasons in his career. Not a super intriguing headline but interesting nonetheless.
Michael Vick showed up this week and had some interesting quotes. He said that he will be “dangerous” this year and also said he thinks he is “faster than ever.” Like before, he has voiced the fact that he would like to be a starter but is willing to accept his role with the Eagles. I’m excited to hear that he thinks he has his legs back and can’t wait to see what he can do in 2010.
The Eagles have parted ways with Durant Brooks, so it looks like Sav Rocca is the front runner again for the punting role. Rocca hasn’t performed very well so I’m not too excited about this. Ken Parrish is with the team again working at both punting and kicking off.
Marlin Jackson had been taking a lot of heat as he was reported to be looking “gimpy” running around on the field. However, he denied all of these reports and new reports are saying he seems to be moving around the field pretty well. The Eagles could definitely use a healthy Jackson, wherever he plays, so it’s nice to hear the knee’s aren’t bothering him too much.
Mike Bell has suffered a hamstring injury which is opening some of the younger guys to get some extra reps. It looks like Bell will be the second running back but Eldra Buckley, Charles Scott, and Martell Mallett are all competing for a spot on the roster.
Not related to Eagles camp, but New Jersey(York) will host the 2014 Super Bowl. With that making headlines, you knew other owners who have stadiums with lousy February weather would speak up. Jefferey Lurie jumped into the conversation and noted that he would love to host a Super Bowl in Philadelphia.
