Eagles Rookies: Nine Signed, Four to Go

The Eagles surprised a lot of people when they ended up selecting 13 different rookies from the 2010 NFL Draft. Despite having such a large quantity, the Eagles are doing a great job at getting all of these young guys signed. Of course you’d like to see them get the big boys (Brandon Graham and Nate Allen) signed, but with roughly six weeks until the start of Training Camp, there is still a lot of time on the clock.

Out of the original 13 selections, the rookies who haven’t received contracts yet are Graham, Allen, Daniel Te’o-Nesheim and Riley Cooper. They will probably be signed in the opposite order of how they are listed, but the most important thing is to get them all signed before Training Camp.

With Graham being one of the first defensive ends selected in the draft, he will probably try to wait and see what the other players of his position receive. He will also probably hold off a while because there were a lot of defensive ends drafted near where he was selected (Tyson Alualu 10th, Jason Pierre-Paul 15th, and Derrick Morgan 16th).

I don’t anticipate the Eagles having trouble signing Allen, but it is very important to get him and Graham into camp on time. Both are players who could be opening day starters and you want them to get as many reps and get as familiar with the system as possible.

At this point, I’m happy with the progress the organization has made in getting their picks signed. We can only hope that they continue on this pace so everyone is ready to get in to Training Camp on time.
