Will Todd Herremans Spark the Eagles Offensive Line on Friday?

Eagles guard Todd Herremans was pretty low key this Training Camp. He spent most practices working with the group of injured players, completing various exercises to try and get himself back on the right track.

Herremans is finally starting to see some live action in practice now and will make his preseason debut on Friday night against the Chiefs.

The Eagles offensive line has had it’s share of question marks this year. Questions started when Jamaal Jackson went down at the end of the 2009 season and have lingered all the way until now. Herremans is a big piece of the offensive line, and his return should be very useful.

So far this preseason, we’ve seen Kevin Kolb take on a lot of pressure and be forced to make plays out of the pocket. His mobility has been a pleasant surprise, but the Eagles don’t want him to make plays with his feet. They want him to be able to drop back and make passes in the pocket.

In my opinion, Herremans has what it takes to be a Pro Bowl caliber guard. I also believe that he could have started the first preseason game if he needed to, despite the foot injury. It seems the Eagles were particularly cautious with Herremans injury because they know the value he brings to the line.

When Herremans plays on Friday night, the Eagles should just be one piece shy of putting the offensive line puzzle together. I think we will see improvement, and I hope that the middle piece of the puzzle is able to fit in soon.
