In a Disappointing Game, Eagles Lose to Bears 31-26

In a battle between two 7-3 teams, the Bears emerged with the win. The Eagles won’t have much time to think about the loss as they will have a short week, playing the Texans this Thursday.

Offensively, the teams biggest struggle was scoring touchdowns in the red zone. They were 1-5 on the day, and at the end of the day, one additional touchdown would have made the difference.

Michael Vick threw for over 300 yards but wasn’t his usual dominating self. The Bears were able to get a lot of pressure on him and not let him settle into the pocket. He was forced to make plays on the run, and was not able to connect on many big plays.

Vick has his first interception of the year, and although it wasn’t entirely his fault, it had a huge impact on the game. The Eagles were looking to take the lead, but the turnover kept them off the board and gave the Bears all the momentum.

Defensively, we saw the team give up a ton of big plays, not something they did a whole lot the rest of the year. A large contributor to these big plays was poor tackling. The team just couldn’t seem to bring ball carriers to the ground.

The defense also failed to force a turnover, something they had been doing consistently all season. Asante Samuel’s absence did not help the matter as the secondary struggled.

The special teams unit also struggled, allowing the Bears to have multiple long returns.
