As I’m sure most of you watched, the Green Bay Packers were able to walk out of Chicago with a win, and now tickets to the Super Bowl in Dallas. The sixth seed in the NFC was able to barley sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard team. Everyone knew the talent that Green Bay had on their roster, and they were early Super Bowl favorites from the beginning of the season. Misfortune struck the Packers early on as the injury bug hit the team hard.
But the Packers were able to fight back and snag that playoff spot. The Packers and Aaron Rodgers traveled to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in a wildcard matchup. The Eagles ultimately fell short and lost the game, 21-16. Sure, it sucked as an Eagles fan. It was hard to lose the first round of the playoffs and go one and done for the second straight season. This seemed like the year that the Eagles could have gone all the way.
But, of course it would be tough to get past the Falcons at home, the Eagles would have a tough game there anyway. So the Packers will just head into Atlanta and that will end their postseason run, and they will be just like the Eagles. Nope.
Green Bay went into Atlanta and did something that the Eagles could have never accomplished. The Packers wiped the Falcons at home, 48-21. Successfully embarrassing the number one seed in the NFC, and paving a way to the NFC Championship.
At this point, as an Eagles fan, I was impressed. The Eagles were able to hang tough with a team that destroyed the #1 seed. That is something that no one saw coming, and the Packers managed to impress everyone. That’s two straight road wins in the playoffs for the Packers and they were moving.
The NFC Championship was against the tough Bears defense, in Chicago. Alright, so the Packers downed the Falcons at home so nothing is impossible at this point. It just seemed like all of the pressure and all of the road games would pile onto the Packers and they would lose in a close one. Once again, Rodgers and the Packers amazed and were able to win at Soldier Field, 21-14.
Now, as an Eagles fan, we lost to a Super Bowl caliber team. The Eagles lost to a team that more than likely is going to win the Super Bowl in Dallas this season. Even better than that, the Eagles lost by less than one touchdown. We were within, one touchdown of taking down a possible Super Bowl winner.
Eagles fan’s be satisfied. We had a good season. We almsot beat the Packers. I am happy with that.
I Can’t wait for next season, and that next game against the Packers.
