Since the NFL Lockout has been in effect, there have been a majority of teams that have made the choice to flat out cancel their training camps, but the Eagles are not on of those teams. According to Lehigh Valley Live, Lehigh University has started assembling tents in bleachers as if there was not even a lockout in place.
Philadelphia has been going to Lehigh for a number of years, and the players really seem to enjoy the time away in a more private location. Andy Reid has had great pre-season success when he has a full offseason to plan and re-tool his team, so it will be interesting to see what he is able to do with little time, if any at all.
Regardless, the teams that cancelled their arrangements for training camps will be kicking themselves if the lockout is indeed lifted, and the Eagles will be set. Keep in mind that this will be the first season Michael Vick will be the designated starter, and a successful training camp to develop chemistry with new players will be critical to the team’s success.
This move by the Eagles shows promise for the NFL Lockout being lifted, and with the recent steps forward in negotiations, things are looking good. If indeed the labor negotiations are coming to an end and the new CBA is signed, it is a guarantee that the Eagles will be out in Lehigh the next day, getting in their reps and working on all those crazy trick plays that Reid will have up his sleeve.
