Week 4 of the Pre-Season; Final Evaluations?

By Columnist Chris DeSantis

So here we are entering Week 4 of the Pre-Season. This week is traditionally used to evaluate the backups on the depth chart. Final cut-downs are on the horizon. However, this fan believes that this week the coaching staff should play thier starting offensive line for at least a quarter. If there are any concerns that are left, it is the O-line.Injuries and uncertainty has plagued this group. During Saturdays practice the coaching staff shuffled around O-linemen once again. Jason Peters remains the only man left untouched at the Left Tackle. Rookie Center Jason Kelce has been splitting time with veteran Jamaal Jackson. Veteran Left Guard Todd Herremans has been moved from Left Guard to Right Tackle. With this move Evan Mathis moves into the Left Guard position.

There has been some talk about how the Eagles may be shopping around Cornerback Joselio Hanson. He has been a solid Nickel Back since 2006. It seems more and more that Asante Samuel may stay put in Philly. That is great for Eagle fans. We love Asante! Hanson has had a solid career with the Eagles. So much so that he will most likely find his niche on another team in the League.

Lastly, I am excited about Wide Receiver Chad Hall. I love this guy! He is the 3rd leading Receiver in the NFC during this Pre-Season. I think he is valuable. He always finds the right hole in the defense to sit in and give our QB’s a dependable target. I think he is going to make the coaching staff think long and hard before they make the cuts down to a 53 man roster. They have real talent this year with the Receiving Corps. You have the excitement of DeSean Jackson. The reliability of Jeremy Maclin, and Jason Avant. Riley Cooper has come along tremendously. The addition of an old foe Steve Smith, former NY Giant, is going to be great. This leaves the sixth spot for Chad Hall. I hope they give his a chance again this year. Last year this guy proved valuable receiving, returning kicks and punts, and even in the Wildcat position. Lots to think about going into the Final Week of the Pre-Season!
