Twas the Week for Before NFL-SEASON-MAS

By Columnist Chris DeSantis

One more week to go and it will be the eve of the NFL season. Do you remember that excitement you felt as a kid awaiting Santa Clause? Well that is how this writer feels the night before the first regular season games. Yes I know. We have preseason football right now. But that only gives you a sneak peak.

That is like saying that you would rather just watch a trailer for the new Star Wars movie coming out, not the film itself. Just kidding Star Wars geekoids. Don’t go into your closet and grab your Chewbacca costume. There isn’t a new Star Wars flick coming out. At least not that I know of.

Back to my point.

The regular season is just one week away. How great is that? AWESOME games such as the Division Foes facing off like Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore, and the Giants vs. Redskins. We get to see #1 overall pick in the draft Cam Newton lead the Panthers into Arizona to face off with newly acquired QB (Former Eagle) Kevin Kolb and the Arizona Cardinals. Santa Goodell and his NFL schedule maker elves treat us to the Eagles traveling to St. Louis to face the Rams.

QB Mike Vick, the new 100 million dollar man, leading his exciting style of play against an old Andy Reid assistant coach Steve Spanuola. Who happens to be now in his 3rd year as Head Coach of the Rams. The Rams are on an upswing. With a solid year behind them expect second year signal caller Sam Bradford to lead the Rams toward a Division Title. The weekend will be capped off with two Monday Night games.

The early game has New England at the Dolphins, and the late game is The Raiders at Denver. This is where the NFL get’s it right! They spoil us the first weekend of the season. So grab your lucky team shirt, holes and all. My Eagle jersey has spit-up stains from my 10 year old daughter. She use to sit on my lap and watch the games with me. I am a superstitious fan, what can I say!

Good luck to you all, and your teams! Well, not the Cowboys, and Giants fans at least. Oh ya, Washington fans your team still stinks, so not really worried about you neither. Merry NFL-SEASON-MAS from this Guy!!!
