Source: Eagles DE Cole likely out three weeks; OT Peters day-to-day

A Monday morning MRI revealed a grade two calf strain for Eagles defensive end Trent Cole, Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports.

Cole was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 24-23 crushing defeat to the 49ers.

According to Glazer, the former Bearcat bruiser is expected to be sidelined for three weeks, which means he’ll probably be out against the upstart 3-1 Bills and NFC East-leading rival Redskins.

The Eagles have a bye in Week 7, which may allow the two-time Pro Bowler to return for the Eagles’ Sunday night home showdown with the Cowboys on October 30.

Through four games this season, Cole has three quarterback sacks.  It’s a good thing the Eagles have sack artist Jason Babin, who leads the league with seven sacks.

In addition, the Eagles have also been without defensive ends Juqua Parker (ankle) and Darryl Tapp (pectoral) the last two weeks, although Tapp was a limited participant last week and could possibly return at Buffalo next Sunday.

Peters injury: Geoff Mosher of the Wilmington News Journal reports that coach Andy Reid said that Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters has a significant hamstring injury and he is day-to-day.
