No agent represents more players than Drew Rosenhaus. According to the roster database I keep, Rosenhaus’ agency represents around 7 percent of the players of the league, with nearly 150 players with active NFL contracts. Rosenhaus’ client is so large, and his influence within the league so great, he will be featured on “60 Minutes” this Sunday.
Tim McManus of Philadelphia Sports Daily reports that two nights ago one of those clients, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, fired Rosenhaus after a dinner meeting only to quickly rescind the paperwork he filed with the NFLPA.
According to the report, the discussion escalated into an argument and a “third party” followed McCoy out of the restaurant.
McCoy, 23, was the 53rd overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft out of the University of Pittsburgh. Rosenhaus negotiated McCoy’s four-year, $3.497 million contract. McCoy ran for 1,717 yards and 11 touchdowns with 118 receptions for 900 yards and two touchdowns receiving his first two seasons in the league and currently ranks 5th in the NFL with 363 rushing yards through four games in the 2011 season.
McCoy is earning $525,000 in base salary this season and is under contract for $615,000 in 2012.
In addition to McCoy, Rosenhaus represents Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who held out of the start of 2011 training camp to express his dissatisfaction with his contract.
