DeSean Jackson Promises a Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Victory in Next Five-Years

Thanks, DeSean..

The Philadelphia Eagles caved yesterday and handed DeSean Jackson a massive five-year $51 million contract, despite a franchise tag and rumors that he might be traded, and in his happiness — #10 made some bold promises.

In an interview after he signed his brand new contract, Jackson stated that the Eagles will win a Super Bowl in the next five-years, and that he is also aiming for the Hall of Fame. Here’s the direct quote, “I’m just happy to still be here and say I’ve got five bright years to look forward to and one of them years I’m going to guarantee a Super Bowl because we’ve been so close. Hands down I think we’re one of the best teams in the NFL.

Later on in the interview, he chatted briefly about becoming a Hall of Fame wide receiver, “I want to shoot for the Hall of Fame, I want to shoot for Super Bowl, that’s something I haven’t done yet. I’m a Pro-Bowl wide receiver but I want to shoot beyond that, I’m not satisfied with that.”

Well, take that for what you will, Eagles fans. Keep in mind the last time an Eagle, Vince Young (now unemployed), made a comment like this, the team didn’t hear the end of it for the entire season. After every single loss, there were snide comments, rude jabs, and plenty of laughs, as Philly slid through a rocky 8-8 season. It seems like a direct way to pour fuel on a fire that hasn’t been entirely put out from the failures of last season.

But then again, I am not the one who just landed a $51 million contract.

I respect his confidence. I also think he was really happy about finally getting paid and wanted to reassure the front office/coaching staff that he’s worthy.

  2. Troy Ballard says:

You’re more confident in him than I am.

  3. Derek O says:

After the Giants won yet ANOTHER Superbowl, I promised I wouldn’t get too excited about football & the Eagles again. With all the returns and big plays (especially against the hated Giants), I guess he needed to finally get paid. I just wish the Eagles would win a Superbowl during MY lifetime! ha ha!
