Dion Lewis Arrested After Pulling Fire Alarm

This has to go down in the book of most stupid from NFL athletes. And the Philadelphia Eagles very own Dion Lewis is the one who gets the nod.

While with his brother and he were smashed drunk in Albany, New York, the two found themselves locked out of their hotel room (a Days Inn, always a classy choice for someone making six-figures). After numerous failed attempts to re-enter the hotel, the two began pounding on the glass lobby door in one last desperate attempt to get in. Following that last ditch effort, one of the brothers, or both (it’s still unclear at this point), pulled the hotel’s fire alarm.

For those who are savvy to the law, you are aware that pulling a fire alarm when there is no fire is considered a felony in the United States. So, that’s what Lewis has been handed down. Along with his felony, he was also charged with falsely reporting a fire and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. Naturally, the Eagles organization had no comment and have made the decision to wait it out until the legal process has run its course.

But regardless of the legal-action taken against Lewis, the NFL will almost certainly suspended him and fine him. His actions reflect incredibly poor judgment, and Roger Goodell loves nothing more than showing that this kind of shenanigans aren’t allowed in his league.

This incident really puts the Eagles on ice, though. Lewis, who as a rookie was given minimal carries and was assigned almost exclusively to special teams, was going to be given a much larger role in the upcoming season. With the departure of the failed Ronnie Brown experiment, Lewis was next in line to fill-in behind LeSean McCoy as the no. 2 back. Now that he is likely facing a multiple game suspension, Philadelphia’s coaching staff is going to work some magic with the running backs behind him.

Pick your poison:

Bryce Brown or Chris Polk.

My money is on Polk — despite being an undrafted free agent. But regardless of who the Eagles find to replace him, this was an unbelievably stupid move from Lewis.
