ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that he expects the Philadelphia Eagles to release QB Michael Vick tomorrow. The New York Jets are supposedly not interested, despite having ex-Eagle Marty Mornhinweg as their offensive coordinator. He definitely has been better than QB Mark Sanchez since becoming an Eagle.
Vick was due a $3m roster bonus this week.
This could cause a chain reaction in which QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is released by the Buffalo Bills (they would save $450,000 against the cap and avoid paying him a $3m roster bonus due in March), and in which QBs Alex Smith and Matt Flynn are traded or released.
Baltimore Ravens practice squad QB Dennis Dixon’s agent has begun speaking with the Philadelphia Eagles about possibly signing with them. Dixon played for Eagles head coach Chip Kelly at Oregon.
