News & Notes From Minicamp: Day 2

  • The Eagles were running a lot of zone read plays in practice today, according to Michael Vick. He didn’t seem too concerned with the possibility of Nick Foles outperforming him, saying that “I mean, he can run. He has two legs.”
  • On Chip Kelly’s offense: Brent Celek said that “from a communication standpoint it’s going to change the league.”
  • Vinny Curry is currently 278 lbs., up from his playing weight of 260 last year. He will play defensive end in the Eagles’ base 3-4 defense.
  • Michael Vick reportedly looks very muscular, especially in his upper body. He must be able to withstand a lot of punishment throughout a long season.
  • The NFL regular season schedule will be released tomorrow (Thursday, April 18) at 8 pm.
  • Oklahoma OT Lane Johnson thinks the Eagles are very interested in drafting him with the 4th overall pick.
  • Florida State QB E.J. Manuel named the Eagles, Bills, and Jets as the likeliest teams to draft him.

    mor worried bout concussions wth mike than anythng else. kellys scheme is more punishn on rbs. quick reads qb friendly. i likd d lewis and polk as backups. but bryce showd flashes if he treats the tiki-nitis. vinny is gonna be great at that weight. he is for real. bench kurt and im cool-comin’ from columbus!
