The latest draft rumor has the Eagles very interested in LSU edge rusher Barkevious Mingo.
CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora wrote that “for all of the chatter about the Eagles and Dion Jordan, for obvious reasons, I keep hearing more and more about Mingo in that 4th pick.”
This is the first time Mingo has been seriously linked to the Eagles, and he would be a huge upset to go in the top five picks of Thursday’s draft.
Mingo had a disappointing junior season at LSU, but declared anyway. He’s very slight for a pass rusher at 6’4″, 241, but moves like a defensive back. He ran a 4.58 time in the 40-yard-dash and clearly has remarkable speed on tape. He blends his speed with deceptive strength, despite playing at 230 pounds in 2012. Watch his game against Clemson if you want to see him at his best.
He has the length and athleticism to excel in the Eagles’ 3-4 scheme, but scouts question his instincts and productivity.
The Eagles could be looking to move back in the draft and target him later in the first round, but La Canfora specifically referenced the 4th pick.
With the draft just two days away, this shouldn’t be the last crazy report, so stay tuned.
