RB LeSean McCoy Says He Wants To Stay with the Eagles

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy rushed for 99 yards on Sunday to finish with 1,319 yards this season. It was the second-highest rushing total of his career, with both seasons coming under Chip Kelly. He was named to his third Pro Bowl in six seasons last week.

But McCoy is due to be paid $9.75 million with a salary-cap number of $11.95 million in 2015. That’s a hefty price for a running back, and McCoy admitted that his future goes through his mind sometimes – especially after the Eagles jettisoned DeSean Jackson last offseason, Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

“The season just ended, and . . . I’m an Eagle. I love it here,” McCoy said. “My six years here have been excellent. I’ve been very, very, very productive here. I have a great relationship with my coaches, the owner.

“We’ll see what happens. It’s a business. Anything can happen; I know that. But I’m sure we can work something out. And hopefully, everything does work out. They know how I feel about them. I know how they feel about me. So we’ll see what happens. At the end of the day, it’s a business.”

McCoy might need to restructure his contract. He would be costly to cut, too, with the team absorbing $4.4 million in dead money. So there could be a solution amenable to both sides.

“It depends how they want to do it,” McCoy said. “. . . I love this team, and I’ll do whatever it takes. . . . We’ve got some time for that.”
