Eagles to Promote Assistant QB Coach Press Taylor to QB Coach

The Eagles plan to promote assistant quarterbacks coach Press Taylor to quarterbacks coach, replacing newly hired Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo, Matt Lombardo of NJ Advace Media reports.

The #Eagles are expected to promote assistant QB coach Press Taylor, who brought “Philly Special” to Doug Pederson before the Super Bowl, to QB coach, source says. Taylor replaces John DeFilippo, now #Vikings OC. No word yet on the now-vacant #Eagles OC job.

Taylor also served as an offensive quality control assistant, where his responsibilities included mining and helping to design trick plays, such as “The Philly Special.”

Promoting Taylor from within the quarterbacks room preserves continuity for Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, and Nate Sudfeld ahead of Wentz’s pivotal third NFL season following DeFilippo’s departure.
