Pass Rusher Connor Barwin Wants Back with the Eagles in 2019

Veteran free agent pass rusher Connor Barwin would like to return to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2019 according to Mike Greger of

That wish come with the caveat that he wants to return if GM Howie Roseman and company are willing to have him back. “I’m trying to come back and play for the Eagles,” Barwin said this week. “I’m training right now and I’ve talked to Howie and they’re going to see if they need any depth on the edge and so I’m going to wait until camp starts before I sign anywhere else, but obviously I’m not going to wait too long. But the Eagles know that’s where I want to be.”

Barwin has been without a team since the New York Giants released him at the end of the 2018 season. The 11-year veteran was a major force for the Eagles from 2013-2016, posting the best numbers of his career and making the Pro Bowl in 2014 on the basis of his career-high 14.5 sacks.

Baewin realizes that he would not be a star on his return to Philly but instead would play the kind of supporting role he has for the past two seasons for the Rams and the Giants.

The veteran played on a $2 million contract last season with New York. Philly has more than enough cap space to accomodate such an addition. Now Howie just has to decide if he wants to get it done.

Connor had a bad year for the Giants last season and is years removed from the peak of his career. The Eagles will only sign him if they have a large need.
