Jordan Howard Getting a Majority of the Carries at Eagles Camp

Running back Jordan Howard has been “dominating” carries with the first-team offense thus far at Eagles training camp according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP.

The Eagles acquired Howard from the Chicago Bears in May in exchange for a 2020 conditional sixth-round draft pick and thus far it looks like that move has paid off in spades for Philly.

Almost exclusively an early-down back, Howard saw his yards per carry slip from 5.2 as a rookie to 4.1 and 3.7 over the past two years but he did have two 1000-plus seasons in his first three years in the league and came close in 2018 with 935 yards and nine touchdowns.

For the Eagles, Howard seems likely to lead the team in rushing attempts with rookie Miles Sanders seeing some work on early downs and Darren Sproles and/or Corey Clement almost exclusively used on third downs and passing situations.

Given head coach Doug Pederson’s preference for committee rushing attacks, none of the Eagles running backs will be particularly good for fantasy. Howard has some extra motivation as he is set to become a free agent next March. He does not turn 25 years old until November.
