West Coast Win: Eagles Top Seattle 26-7

Westbrook makes a move

The Philadelphia Eagles headed into Seattle on a two-game win streak, looking to quiet the crowd at Quest Field, and end the Seahawks chances of taking the division for the fifth straight time. The Seahawks took their first play from scrimmage 90 yards on a touchdown pass from backup QB Seneca Wallace to WR Koren Robinson.

Unfortunately for Seattle, that was all they could muster for the entire game. After being torched for that touchdown, the Eagles’ defense stepped up and forced 11 straight punts, of which seven were three and outs.

The biggest, and craziest play of the day came when Philadelphia had the ball at the one-yard line. Starting LG Todd Herremans lined up as an eligible receiver in the tight end spot. McNabb rolled right with FB Dan Klecko running a route into the flats. McNabb threw a strike into the chest of Herremans, and the route was on. That gave the Eagles a 14-7 lead and they never looked back.

The Eagles still have some questions to answer heading into a huge showdown with the 7-1 Giants next Sunday. The Eagles did very poor running the ball on short-yardage situations, and McNabb started the game 3-13, 57 yards, and one interception. McNabb has to get into a rhythm from the very start of games, and something has to be done about the ineffective running game. If the Eagles fail to convert third and shorts against an outstanding Giants defense, then their playoff hopes are going to end real soon.

The Seahawks are just miserable this year, and it mostly has to do with injuries. MLB Tatupu, and DE Kerney were out for the defense, and QB Matt Hasselbeck and WR Deion Branch were out for the offense. If the Seahawks can get those four key players back, it would be a much improved team. Unfortunately with the Cardinals at 5-3, its going to be too late for the Seahawks to do anything, other than hope to finish at .500.
