Interest Was There for Vick

58106397 reports on the couple of teams that had interest in Mike Vick, leading up to the Eagles inking him to a deal:

There have been ongoing internal debates inside the newsroom and during NFL Network production meetings throughout the offseason as to what the market would be for Michael Vick when he was eventually put on the free market. There were also many disagreements. But according to Joel Segal, the interest in Vick was there.

“There was significant interest,” Segal told NFL Network’s Kara Henderson on Friday. “We had calls from a plethora of teams. It came down to three teams, and when [Eagles president] Joe Banner called, this was where Mike wanted to go to, and it went from there.” “I think there are a lot of reasons,” Segal explained. “You look at the infrastructure of the club, its a traditional team of success. Andy Reid is one of the finest offensive minds in the league. And, I think really important to Mike, was having a Pro Bowl quarterback, a great guy, Donovan McNabb, here. There’s no rush for Mike to play. He can come in slowly, get his skill set back, and when needed, hopefully be ready.”

The report was that the Ravens were one of those teams, and there was also a report earlier that the Bengals might have been another team that showed some interest. Last week there was a reported five teams that had interest in Vick, but in the end, the Eagles were the destination for the former Falcons QB.
