Miles Sanders the Feature Back in 2019 for the Eagles? Not So Fast

It is “premature” to expect rookie running back Miles Sanders to become the Eagles No.1 back according to Zack Rosenblatt of

Drafted in the second round out of Penn State, Sanders has a ton of potential but has been unable to display it thus far as he has been sidelined with a hamstring issue since the start of OTAs. Sanders has been sidelined since the start of OTAs, and Rosenblatt believes he’s now “behind the eight-ball.” Coach Doug Pederson said the plan is to “slowly work him into the mix and see just how he can help us on game day.”

The Eagles have a stable of veterans — Jordan Howard, Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement, etc. — but none are good enough to keep Sanders off the field when he is caught up and healthy. Pederson has always favored the committee approach, however, so it is unrealistic to expect even a healthy Sanders to get the touches required to become a No.1 fantasy back.

It’s important for Sanders to get healthy and learn the system, until then it’ll be RB by committee which is not the ideal way to get to the post-season for Philly.
